Born on 23-Oct-2006 when He was hardly two years old when he started playing the tabla. His first public performance was at the age of two at Mumbai’s Somaiya college. At the age of three, the Mulund boy had played live at the All India Radio. He played for Doordarshan when he was just four. At the age of 6, he was awarded with a certificate from Guinness Book of World Records for being the youngest ever Tabla Master.
“He was born with a sense of rhythm,” Truptraj’s father Atul Pandya told The Times of India. Listening to his grandmother sing devotional songs, Truptraj would sit beside her and play aluminium dabbas as an instrument. Truptraj’s natural attraction to percussion instruments led him to become the youngest Tabla Master in the world. His repertoire is mainly folk and devotional music, Atul often provides vocal accompaniment to his son’s performances.
After making it to the Guinness Book, Truptraj has been performing endlessly and mastering his skills. He is dearly loved in the musician community. Legends like Ustad Zakir Hussain, Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasiya and Ustad Iqbal Ahmed Khan have bestowed their blessings on him and have been helping Truptraj get better with his skills.
